COVID-19 Statement:
Because of issues related to COVID-19, my availability is currently highly limited. I have temporarily taken down my online calendar. Please contact me about any dates you might need covered. For the forseable future, I am requiring the following safety precautions be taken:
  • "Curbside" service only, with the exception of euthanasias which must be discussed in advance.
  • All staff must wear masks at all times, both inside the clinic building and out. This is in accordance with the governor's mask mandate. If masks are removed for telephone use then I must have my own dedicated telephone.
  • Frequent cleaning of high-touch surfaces including doorknobs, keyboards, faucet handles, etc.
  • Additionally, for your safety as well as mine, please note that I am limiting my scheduling to no more than two different hospitals within any given two week period.

If you are a pet-owner looking for a veterinarian:

...then this website probably isn't the right place for you. I can not legally answer your medical questions by email or phone. (Sorry.) As a relief veterinarian I see patients at a wide variety of locations. For help finding a veterinarian near you try this resource and read these tips by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

    About Me:

As a graduate of the University of Illinois's College of Veterinary Medicine and a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, I am lucky to have found a profession as rich and rewarding as this one. In my role as a relief veterinarian I strive to bring that passion, together with outstanding skill & knowledge, to your practice. I am currently licensed in New Mexico & New York states and am available for short-term engagements in the Albuquerque, NM region.

As an independent contractor, I carry my own insurance and business registrations. In most cases you pay no taxes or additional fees. Not just a relief veterinarian, I have also worked as a successful solo practitioner & manager, giving me an understanding of the financial as well as the medical side of veterinary practice. Whether it is for a vacation, continuing education, or a temporary staff shortage, I can provide reliable and productive coverage.

    My Philosophies:

I have always considered the care of my patients and my clients to be my top priorities. Within your practice, it is your clients and your patients that come first. They have come seeking your expert care and opinions. As such, with the contribution of my professional judgement, I endeavor to follow your hospital's protocols and practices whenever practical. In preparation for a strong first day's work, I prefer to spend a few hours shadowing at your practice. Beyond that it is helpful if I can rely on experienced team members who are knowledgeable about your usual routines.

Outside of veterinary medicine, I am proud to have a strong interest in the field of education. As a veterinarian, I bring that interest into every exam room I visit. I believe that strong client education is key to good client compliance and hence to good patient outcomes. Whenever possible, I will strive to educate your clients on all aspects of their pet's medical care, ranging from the value of routine preventative healthcare to potential treatment options for complex medical conditions.

As a canine and feline practitioner, I am comfortable performing well and sick office calls, general soft-tissue surgery, and most surgical dental extractions. I will not perform cosmetic ear cropping, ear taping, or "show-quicking" of nails. I will perform feline onychectomy in select situations. In general I will utilize your office's equipment but for certain tools that I find essential (i.e. Welch-Allyn pneumatic otoscope, Carmalt hemostatic forceps) I have my own equipment to supplement yours. I also have experience in general shelter medicine, pediatric spay & neuter, and high-quality high-volume spay & neuter.

    Availability:

In general, I will reserve dates first for clinics requiring coverage on a specific day then fill in clinics with more flexible needs (i.e. "any 2 days this week"). Please look at my calendar and contact me by email or phone if you are interested in scheduling.

    Resume & References:
